A little bit of history…

The property was built in 1800 from an old farmhouse and was originally known as Le Manoir des Mouettes.

In 1865, the remains of Saint Valentine were given by Pius IX to Abbé Tréhu, the owner of Le Manoir. When Abbé Tréhu died, his niece and sole heir was keen to keep the remains and had a Gothic-style oratory built in the property’s garden.

Following the Second Vatican Council in 1962, Father Telisle, who was then the parish priest in Courtils, organised the reliquary’s relocation to a more permanent location: it was placed in the chapel, on the other side of the central aisle where it is currently located.

The Saint Valentine chapel is sure to impress you and add a romantic touch to your stay at Le Manoir de la Roche Torin.
